The name is inspired by the musical definition of the word: a short composition of a romantic or dreamy character suggestive of night, typically for piano. Sorry for the confusion!
Hello Merrily, I’m sorry to hear that! We rotate through several roasters. However, some coffees are more acidic than others—and while this doesn’t affect most people—it may have been the cause. You can always ask the barista on shift if a coffee is more acidic (as a general rule, avoid African origins!) Hope that helps!
9 - 5 July 1st
Delicious coffee, lot of space to work and nice calm vibe, always like to come here.
Great place to grab a coffee and work/ read a book!
Great place with big portions. Super cozy
the place is really cute ☺️ i tried my first chai latte there and i loved it. the barista was super nice and i loved her customer service!
There's a reason this place is so popular. Very hipster, from its rustic interior decor to its rich espresso shots (but their lattes are objectively the best option on the drinks menu). There tend to be many people from the plateau area doing work on their small tables and uncomfortable stools, but I would not call this a "study space" for the average student. It can also sometimes be hard to find space for two people to sit next to or across from each other, so depending on the time of day, you might want to opt for somewhere else to find a place to sit down and chat.
good rich tasting coffee
Cozy place with delicious scones and Chai latte! :)
Excellent coffee in a beautifully designed place. Can be noisy, so best to bring headphones.
Best coffee in town, sweet owner and LOVE ALL OF THEIR COFFEE
Nice little coffee place tucked in the corner of the street. I enjoyed everything - flavour of the coffee, service, and the atmosphere. I didn’t like that all the sitting space was taken up by students. That’s why I’m giving 4 stars out of 5.
Excellent spot just to hang out, sip on a cup of joe and enjoy the atmosphere. This hidden gem is located in the heart of Montreal and offers a handful of delicately prepared lattes. Vegan friendly with a variety of nondairy options including treats.
Friendly service...coffee is amazing with cute pictures (see the swan!!) You can pop along with your laptop and absorb into the atmosphere and concentrate with no interruptions. The almond crossaints is a M U S T . . . . . .. .. .. . ... ..
Friendliest staff in the city! They have all the alternative milks you could hope for. Perfect for instagram worthy coffee and also have a cool instagram themselves.
Quiet coffee shop with nice staff. I only had a tea but it was good. Will probably come back
Love this place! Baristas are always friendly and efficient. Love the music and the choice of milk alternatives. Highly recommend to all.
Coffee are good nice staff good musicThe big concern they allow dogs in the store knowing it is completely forbidden by the law I am surprised the food and safety inspectors never came yet
This is a great little cafe. Lots of coffee options. Really amazing location. A good vibe. And nice staff. There's also a little backyard that you can sit in if you'd like fresh air but some times you should ask for it.. It's not too obvious!! If you're around, check it out.
One of the best lattes around, especially their chai latte! I wish there were more food options, and power outlets for studying, but it's still one of my top cafes in the city.
Some of the best coffee and treats ever! Super nice staff too, just gets a bit hot in summer without AC
The most perfect cafe in the world! If I’m ever having a bad day, all I have to do is step into Nocturne and say hello to Thomas (and enjoy an impeccable latte while I’m at it) and suddenly the world seems cozy and bright.
Great place to grabbed a drink then took a walk on St. Laurent. A cute ,small and rustic decor Café there are always full of people. Friendly staff.
Super nice place, sunny windows in the morning and simple but comprehensive options. They do charge extra for nondairy milk, but everything is perfectly pleasant :)
Amazing. I live within two blocks from it and it's my favourite spot. Best cold brew and butter croissants I've tried so far. The service and ambiance makes it the perfect place to chill and work and do some writing.
Super cozy place. Friendly staff and really good tea. One of the cutest coffee shops in town
Great music, coffee, bagels, and service. Such a lovely little cafe.
Great place! Very good coffee, friendly staff, excellent music choice, nice setting and atmosphere. I was rushing through the city, but couldn't get myself to leave this place once I got into my book and they started playing Ágætis Byrjun in full.
Amazing espresso beverages. These guys know their stuff. Great atmosphere with a small shaded deck to retreat to in the back.
Another nice spot for good coffee. Very nice and relaxed atmosphere with enough space to work on your laptop. Espressos are good. They use dispatch coffee beans and a great espresso machine. Friendly Barista and a nice and quite outdoor area to complete it all!
Coffee is always amazing here.
Coffee is exceptional. Smooth and creamy mocha. Attentive nice service and the baked goods were juicy and delicious as well
We came here quite often. We just love the vibe here. It is a dog friendly place. Yes, you can bring your doggy here to be your company. At least I saw some ppl did that. 😆 They also have a little book corner if you want to spent your time there. I didn't try any pastries there yet because every time we went there, most of the time is sold out. I believe they are good, that's why they sold pit fast.
All coffee beverages they make are great, although the pastries could be better. The baristas are really nice, the decor is quite cool and you'll see a mix of students and plateau residents.
Real great quiet little cafe, cold brew and almond croissant were a fantastic start to my day very beautiful brick interior
Currently my favourite cafe in Montreal! The coffee tastes amazing and the ambiance is great for studying and enjoying a coffee. The baristas are all very friendly as well.
I had the best soy latte of life this morning from intelligent barista
nice third wace coffee spot. I like the staff. The dude who served me was nice on January 1st. espresso is creamy as i like it
It's a 7 min walk from Sherbrooke metro. Great place to go for a cup of coffee, I ordered a cold brew and a latte. There's also space to work on a laptop. The staff are very friendly. Would recommend checking out. It's one of the nicer cafés in Montreal
Good coffee and pastries, nice place to work.
Nice study café with a terasse! It can be a bit noisy and you won't have a lot of table space because you basically share a long table with other people.
Nice place, high quality beans, kind people
My favourite cafe. Best dirty chai in the city.
Non pretentious, straight forward, kind, delish!
Been going here for 3 years now. Always good coffee, always friendly and kind staff. They have an assortment of little snacks: cookies, scones, a loaf, and croissants, and I really appreciate that they don’t charge extra for substitute milks (they have macadamia, oat, soy, and almond). It’s got light minimalist decor, and most importantly they are super dog friendly!!! Dog friendly cafe!!!!
Tasty coffee and treats, but it is often crowded and the seats aren't super comfortable. Good for a quick coffee date or to go but not so much for studying
Super good coffee and great service.
Discovered this cute coffee shop through the Third wave app and had a great experience. Friendly staff, nice set up to work, quality products (the coffee is sourced from sustainable and local regions), light snacks and reliable WiFi. Definitely recommend this place!
Cozy cafe in Montreal. Coffee is made beautifully and their sweet treats are delicious.
I have a love-hate relationship with Café Nocturne. Since there are so many students who come here to do homework, you feel like a nuisance the moment you start having a conversation. It’s a cute place, the coffee is good, but don’t expect to sit down comfortably if you go there. You’re better off taking your coffee to-go.
Looking to support local coffee shops during this time and this one caught my attention. This review is for Varietal which is affiliated with Cafe Nocturne. If you are looking to purchase coffee brewing gear, I highly recommend considering this place even if you do not reside in Montreal. They communicate well, respond quickly and address all your needs. You know they are not in it for profit only when they tell you about promo codes you are unaware of. Great customer service and expedited shipping was fast!
What a perfect cute little place. Cozy, quick and great service, lattes are amazing - and they have a quiet small patio on the back, ideal to enjoy a coffee break.
